Lash/Brow Extension Information

What are lash extensions? - Lash Extensions are synthetic, silk or mink fur artificial lashes applied to your natural lashes one lash at a time. They are applied using a semi permanent glue.  They can be used to extend your natural lashes as well as build up volume to thin lashes.

How long does it take to apply lash extensions? - Full sets of lash extensions take anywhere from an hour to two hours depending on how many natural lashes you have and how full of a look you want.

What are lash extension fills? - Your natural lashes cycle every 4-6 weeks. After about 3 weeks most wearers come in for a lash fill. The fill is normally 30-45 minutes in time. You can change the look of your set and even the type of lashes at a fill appointment.

What is the difference between synthetic and Siberian fur lash extensions? – Synthetic lash extensions tend to give you a darker, thicker lash look with a more defined separated appearance. Siberian fur tends to look more natural, fluffy and feathery than synthetic lashes. Siberian fur lashes also appear fuller as you can apply 2-3 to each lash whereas you should only apply 1 synthetic lash to each natural lash.

How long do the lashes last? - A full set will last 3-6 weeks depending on the state of your natural lashes and how well you follow the aftercare instructions.  The less eye makeup you wear the longer the extensions will last.  Siberian fur lashes tend to last longer than the synthetic lashes because of how light in weight they are.  The use of a sleep mask and lash extension sealer will also prolong the wear of the lashes.

What are the risks with having lash extensions? – In the short term with proper care lash extensions will not damage your natural lashes.  When worn long term they will thin out your natural lashes.  To prevent this you can use a lash condition ex. Latisse, Revitalash etc.  I recommend Lash Food Lash Condition as it is all natural and has proven to keep your lashes thick and full.

Is there a risk of an allergy to the lashes or the glue? – Yes, there is a risk some individuals are allergic to the glue used to apply the lashes.  Allergic reactions can be anything from swollen eyelid to itchy watery eyes.  If you experience this you can use over the counter allergy eye drops.  There are sensitive glues that can be used to prevent this.  The con to using sensitive glue is that it does not last as long as the regular glue.

Can you wear makeup with lash extensions? – Yes, you can wear regular makeup.  The only thing that is prohibited is regular lash mascara.  Regular mascara contains ingredients that break down the glue of the extensions.  There is lash extension approved mascara which is available in my online store.  You also must use oil free makeup remover to remove your eye makeup to prevent your lash extensions from falling off.

What aftercare instructions do I need to be familiar with after getting my new set? - The most important aftercare instruction is that you need to make sure your lashes stay dry for 12-24 hours after any new set or lash fill.  You can still shower and wash your face but make sure not to get any water on the actual lashes.  You can clean your face with a rag or a makeup wipe.  After this initial period you can get the lashes wet.  The other follow up is to make sure that you do not use any makeup remover or skin care with oil in it on the actual lashes.  Also do not use regular mascara as it has ingredients which break down the glue.  Avoid long periods of steam and moisture to the lashes and do not use a manual lash curler.

I have pet allergies will Siberian Fur Mink lashes bother my eyes? – The Siberian Fur I use is cruelty free sterilized fur.  Pet allergies are due to the dander on the fur not the fur itself.  All the fur lashes I use have been sterilized so they do not contain any dander or allergens.

What are 3D or 6D lashes? – 3D & 6D refers to very thin synthetic lash extensions about .05-.07mm thickness that can be used to create a volume lash look.  Classic extensions are usually .15mm to .20mm and up to .25mm per lash.  The technician can apply 3 to 6 lashes per lash to build up volume compared to classic extensions where there is only a 1 to 1 ratio.  The weight is comparable to just 1 classic extension yet the thin lashes can be flared which give the appearance of fuller lashes.

What are brow extensions? – Brow extensions are similar to lash extensions that they are used to fill in spare brow areas and build up volume in thinning or over waxed brows.  Using a technique similar to lash extensions, individual synthetic or fur hairs are used in various colors to create a full brow using a clear semi-permanent glue.  Brow extensions can also be used to fix a specific area or on the entire brow.  After a full set is done the brow can be shaped to any brow shape desired by the client.

How long do brow extensions last? – Brow extensions can last 2-3 weeks with proper aftercare and applied to real brow hair.  Most people have fills done ever 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness.  If attached to skin they can last 7-10 days with proper maintenance.

What is a lash perm/lift? – A lash perm is a process where the lashes are curled on a curved rod or pad using a gel based chemical similar to what one would use for a hair perm.  The lash lift is similar to a lash perm but uses a pad where the majority of the perm happens at the root to simulate how one’s lashes would look after using a manual lash curler.

How long does a lash perm last and is it safe?  Typically lash perms will last 6-8 weeks.  The perm is done using precautions that none of the chemicals get into a clients eye.  This is done by using a soft under eye patch and a gel based perm solution as opposed to a liquid perm solution.  The technician ensures that the eyes are watched through the whole process and if any discomfort is reported the eyes are flushed with saline solution immediately to make sure no damage is done to the clients eyes.

What is a lash tint? - A lash tint is the process of using a cream based tint which can darken the lashes.  Sometimes it is referred to as semi-permenent mascara.  A cream based dye is applied to the lashes and left on as you would while dying your hair.  Popular colors are natural brown, dark brown, black and deep blue black.  Blue black tints will simulate a mascara look.  Most lash tints will last 3-5 weeks depending on how fast your lashes grown and how aggressive you are with eye makeup remover and face washing.
